Open Letter to MEA over Pak min’s callous remark

Category : Uncategorized

15th December’ 2012

To,

The Minister of External Affairs – India,

New Delhi

Subject: Pakistan’s Interior minister Rehman Malik’s callous remark on Capt. Kalia.

Mr. Khurseed,

On the Death Anniversary of Hon’able Shri Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel, the real architect of Independent India, I write this letter with deep anguish over the callous remark made by Mr. Rehman Malik, Interior Minister of Pakistan, on his visit to India on 14th December’ 2012 and the eloquent silence of India’s external affairs minister and ministry over the same.

Mr. Malik, Interior minister of Pakistan who is on Indian tour, on invitation by your government, has issued vile statements on Indo-Pak relations, terrorism, and on issue of martyrdom of Captain Saurabh Kalia among others. The statements make mockery of Indian soldiers and our sentiments.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister has insulted the death of Captain Kalia by suggesting that cold weather could be the reason for our brave soldier’s death instead of cold blooded brutality engineered by Pakistani soldiers or terrorists, who are sponsored by Pakistani army / establishment, which were used against Indian soldiers during Kargil war in 1999. The minister also suggested that India has not raised the formal complaint with Pakistan.

Even more distressing is the fact that the India’ external minister and his ministry has not issued even a token statement of protest or presented the facts through press release to set the record straight. It is also disgusting to note that the External Ministry has not demanded any explanation from Pakistan Minister over his statements.

The lies of Pakistan Minister were exposed by Mr. Kanchan Gupta (Former Media Advisor to PM during 1998 – 2004), on micro-blogging site, Twitter. Mr. Gupta mentioned that formal complaint on Captain Kalia’s death was lodged with Pakistan establishment in 1999 and also at three different meetings the issue was raised until May 2004.

Any peace talks with the adversary nation conducted at the cost of the National interest or by disrespecting the martyrdom of Indian soldier, cannot be considered as bridging the trust deficit, but instead it is outright sell-out of Indian interest to enemy nation by the meek government (with enough suspicion of ulterior motive, even if it is unproven or fictional).

As a citizen of India, I would like to demand a strong protest from India’s Minister of External Affairs, who is under constitutional oath to serve to my nation’s best interest, against Pakistan Interior Minister. Also would like to request the ministry to in a suo-moto manner, disclose the communication between Indian government and Pakistan establishment, specifically related to case of Captain Saurabh Kalia.

I request the minister and his ministry to take the cognizance of seriousness of the matter presented in this letter and also undertake a quick follow up action on the matter which is close to every Indians heart.

  1. Great initiative, yet again Jemin 🙂 I really hope some action is taken in this regards. Not just the suggestions advised by you in this letter, but also a serious action against every person who is (with or without any ulterior motive) repressing this issue, whether from Indian ministry or our neighbours’. It’s a real shame that even after 13 years the parents of the martyr have to endure such disgraceful remarks about their son, that too from the conspirators of his death. We all as a nation should voice against such anarchism (I prefer calling our current political situation as anarchy).

  2. Are we qualified to become super power in any way! Look at our so called ministers the way they have sold their souls. Our soldiers, our pride are treated like they are useless! Goodness! I wish your letter get the deserved attention and seen by media.

  3. Honestly, I did not give much attention to the untimely and unnecessary visit of Malik & Co to India for free wining & dining on tax payers money. I was more preoccupied with events and news emanating from Gujarat on the eve of its elections. But then, like a bomb, the guest in question steps in to verbally slap the host where it hurts most without evoking a word of protest from his counterparts eating ladoos here – again free and of tax payer’s money.

Having said that, what distresses me is not so much as what an Idiotic External Affairs Minister of an *enemy* country come and bellow here as opposed to the staunch silence his counterparts in the India Government maintain. An absolute insult of our Jawan by a representative of a barbaric and rogue country is not worse than the insolent and contemptuous rudeness and disrespect extended by our own MINISTER, the Ministry of External Affairs he represents and the Government of India at large.

Such toothless and outright lack of courage, determination and conviction from the Indian Government begs the Nation for a Change, an immediate Change of guard so that, if anything, our self pride, our integrity and our patriotism is not staked by a pusillanimous lot of cowards pretending to govern the Nation with neither pride or prejudice.

Time to kick them out. period! Your letter could not have come at a better time, though, I must confess, I doubt it would caution the interest of those who must adorning the protocol of caretaker!

  4. Bharata ki sarkar kab tak soti rahega kab tak hamare sipahio ka lahu bahta rahega kyon Bharata ki sarkar kamjor bani rahagi kyon hum china, pakistan aur usa ke age jhukte rahenge hamare desh mein sab kuch hota hai phir bhi mehengai hai. Kyon hamare desh ke mantari sher ki tarah dahadte aur bharata ke abhin hisson ko wapas lete ? kyon pichli galtiyon ki zimmadarian agli piddi pe dali ja rahin hain

  5. Gone are the days when MEA would lodge a strong protest whenever Pak deviated from the stated positions on border or any other bilaterally agreed position.

Now we see our Government invite these Pakistani cartoons and allow them to say anything they like on our soil. This Govt is literally going by the spirit of the term called ‘Most Favored Nation’. Rehman repeatedly hurt the sentiments of Indians and yet our ministers looked indifferent.

    Indeed heart heavy with hurt.

  6. The visiting Pakistan interior minister, Rehman Malik not only stopped with making callous remark on Kargil martyr, Captain Saurabh Kalia, but also made provocative statement by equating terrorist attacks like 26/11 carried out by Pakistan-based groups and Babri Masjid demolition. He also aggravated our heartache by saying that Abu Jundal, who choreographed 26/11 attack and was recently deported by Saudi Arabia, worked for an Indian Intelligence Agency. If so, why earlier Pakistan made all serious attempts to stall Jundl’s deportation from Saudi Arabia? Pakistan’s diplomats had even tola Saudi authorities that Jundal was a Pakistani citing the passport and the national identity number issued to him. It is unfortunate that such highly provocative remarks made by the visiting Pakistan Minister has not been rebutted by any Minister or Government. When the neighbouring country is festering our wounds, we are trying to create friendly relationship by playing cricket with them!

  7. To The Minister, MEA:
Mr. Malik’s statements cannot be the result of ignorance; therefore they are a conscious mockery of Indian sentiments. And by not objecting in the strongest terms, India is only continuing the pusillanimity that our foreign policy has demonstrated over the past few years. It is shocking that the Indian reaction is not outrage, it is that “Miffed by Rehman Malik, India avoids joint press meet” (HT headline)
We can’t be strong, but must we be so spineless as to facilitate visas and play cricket matches in India? Bilateral relations involve reciprocity, not gutless acceptance. Let us begin with a strong protest and a firm demand that Malik MUST issue a public apology.

  8. Widely speculated compromise over India’s strategic interests be it on Sir Creek,Siachen or Kashmir itself could also be attributed to Noble-prize ambitions of a few in the state establishment if US pressure was not the only reason. But conspicuous silence over Pak minister’s profanity on Indian soil in presence of his Indian counterparts also exposes pusillanimity of the Govt. ‘Protocol’ is no plea.
India must arise, lest we fail the nation.’Letter’ is timely.

  9. Expresses our nation’s faults and inability to act upon; your letter, however, will be heard by nationalists throughout the country and hopefully we get things done; would love to RT the link! 🙂
